First NBA 2K Players Tournament To Feature 16 Pro Players

Fans still have a lot to expect while the NBA season is suspended. 2K, the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) will host the NBA 2K Players Tournament, an online 2K20 tournament featuring actual NBA players. We do hope that it does hit the Bitcoin sportsbook odds list as this is possible a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that we get to bet on our favorite basketball players battle each other out in the virtual world.

Jason Argent, 2K Senior Vice President of Sports Strategy and Licensing, announced the tournament this week. Argent commented on how the tournament will bring back NBA entertainment to the people amid the COVID-19 pandemic: “We’re thrilled to partner with the NBA and NBPA to bring basketball back to fans throughout the world and to help those in need during these uncertain times…Entertainment, especially sports, has the ability to bring communities together – including athletes, fans, and families – and we hope that everyone will enjoy the tournament.”

Argent will be working with Matt Holt, NBA SVP of Global Partnerships, and Josh Goodstadt, EVP of Licensing for THINK450 for the organization of the tournament.

Tournament Format

The list of competing players was determined based on two factors: NBA 2K rating and tenure. Before the tournament, every player has to choose eight NBA teams. The selected team must only be used once. The away team gets first dibs if a mirror match is set. When the selection is set, all the 16 players will compete online in NBA 2K20. Rounds one and two feature single-elimination matches. The semifinals and finals are in BO3.
